RedČAlert
Each device or service being monitored sends status messages or ‘traps’ to the management console. These traps are coded with status information and are displayed as green for OK, amber for warnings and red for alerts and error conditions. The RedČAlert console runs on a Linux server attached to the monitored network. Software components that run on the server include:

  • Red Squared Agent Manager
  • DB2
  • Tomcat
  • Apache Web Server
  • User Interface

All management functions and services are accessed via a web browser. (N.B. A Java Runtime Engine must be installed on the PC to view the RedČAlert console)

User Interface
Click to enlarge screenshot The RedČAlert home page provides a real-time view of the current status of all systems and outstanding alerts, enabling easy navigation to specific areas for further information. The home page itself represents a ‘dashboard’ overview of all servers and devices being monitored, displaying the current status of all service and agent checks, the number of outstanding alerts and current system notices.

The interface has been designed and tested to be easily navigable, quick to understand and intuitive, without the need for large training investment. The look and feel, usability and day-to-day utility is tested and proven within the Red Squared Support Centre; all changes and major updates are tested in-house before being released.
