RedČAlert
RedČAlert enables IT staff to gain a high-level view of their network, servers, associated services and key applications. Monitoring is based upon the Simple Network Management Protocol (snmp), a de-facto standard for network management adopted by the majority of hardware vendors. RedČAlert monitors any device capable of supporting the snmp protocol.

The RedČAlert application comprises a number of components:

  • The Console and Server Manager for the collection and storage of data, visibility and traceability of monitoring activity
  • Server Agents which handle communication with all servers
  • A set of pre-defined (and extensible) monitoring scripts
  • The Reference Database for the collection and updating of warnings and alerts with associated reporting capability
  • The Network Availability Monitor
  • Graphical views of performance and capacity
  • Web-based administration and monitoring screens

One of the key design objectives during the development of RedČAlert was ease of implementation and use, making the deployment of network and server monitoring throughout an organisation a simple process. RedČAlert is also fully extensible; new technologies are easily incorporated into the application and monitoring can be tailored to reflect new levels of functionality and complexity.
